Meet Our Principal
Darwin R. Hughes, Ed. D., is a passionate and charismatic educator with over 20 years of educational experience-all within the Dallas Independent School District. Dr. Hughes has served in various leadership roles consisting of classroom teacher, Instructional Coordinator, Assistant Principal and previously as the Principal of Thomas West Browne Middle School. His diverse background has afforded him the opportunity to excel as an educator and leader by providing the best instructional practices that has benefited and impacted student success at various levels across Title I schools.
While Dr. Hughes holds both Bachelor's and Master of Science degrees from Texas A & M University and Grand Canyon University, in the summer of 2021, Dr. Hughes was conferred the Educational Doctorate in Organizational Leadership with an emphasis in Effective Schools. Dr. Hughes' research interests include equity and access for minority students, and parental involvement. Dr. Hughes recently completed the Superintendents' program at Texas A & M University-Texarkana. Dr. Hughes' professional affiliations include the National Alliance of Black School Educators, Texas Association of Secondary Principals, Texas Association of School Administrators, & Phi Beta Sigma Fraternity, Inc.
