Academy of Engineering Information

Academy of Engineering at Justin F. Kimball High School           Design Your Dreams. Engineer Your Future.

Justin F. Kimball High School is a public secondary high school in Dallas, Texas serving approximately 1400 students.  Open since 1958, Kimball High School has graduated a number of notable alumni including Steve Bartlett, a former Congressman, and Sheryl Leach, the creator of Barney.

The Academy of Engineering at Justin F. Kimball High School is a college and career readiness program that was established in 2010.  The goal of the Academy is to provide students the tools they will need to be successful in an increasingly competitive global world and job market.

As students begin high school, it become incredibly important for them to prepare for their future goals.  The National Academy Foundation (NAF) is an organization dedicated to providing students with the 21st century skills they will need to succeed in either college or the workforce.

NAF partners with the Dallas ISD and J.F. Kimball High School to work with local businesses and higher education institutions to provide opportunities for exposure and to show our students the value of education.

The Academy of Engineering promotes the three principles of Relationships, Relevance, and Rigor.  The Academy intends to develop strong relationships with students and to provide professional mentors for students.  They are engaged in rigorous curriculum that is industry-relevant and project-based.

All students would benefit from joining the Academy of Engineering, but in particular those who excel in math and science are suitable candidates for the program.  The Academy uses project-based learning to integrate math and science skills in every day application.

The ultimate goal is for students to understand the importance of options in life.  The Academy will prepare students for the future by letting them engineer their future and design their dreams.  We work together to accomplish the vision of J.F. Kimball High's Academy of Engineering, "We Grow Our Own."
